Four rules that save a paint job

• Don't skip more than one grit step. Coarse scratches left under finer grits show up as witness marks after topcoat.
• Drop pressure as grit gets finer. Pressure at P800 does more damage than at P180.
• Wipe and inspect between grits. A dry wipe under raking light reveals scratches the eye misses on a dusty panel.
• Match disc holes to pad holes. A misaligned pattern kills extraction - and dust is what loads the disc.

Does It Hold Up When Wet? Yes.
Wet sanding is where paper-backed discs fail - the backing softens, loses 40–60% of its strength, and starts to curl at the edges. The PET film backing on this disc doesn't. It keeps its shape and edge integrity through wet clear coat leveling, and the resin bond won't break down or shed grain when water runs through the holes. Use it dry for shaping, wet for finishing - one disc type covers both.
