Fiber Disc
Golden Abrasive fiber discs are the best choice for coarse and fine grinding applications, as well as for metal descaling, deburring, and finishing welds.
Fiber abrasive discs belong to the category of coated abrasives, which owe their name to the vulcanized fiber backing material used in their production: are round grinding wheels with a base material of vulcanized fiber, coated on one side with synthetic resin and abrasive grains. This backing material is combined with tightly coated abrasive grains made from cotton and cellulose fibers, making it lightweight and durable.
Fiber discs are different options from our resin fiber discs, such as alumina fiber discs, zirconia fiber discs, silicon carbide fiber discs, and ceramic fiber discs. These abrasives form the basis of high-performance discs that work effortlessly on even the toughest surfaces.
Fiber abrasive discs from Golden Abrasives are characterized by high removal rates, long life, and an optimal scratch pattern. This performance makes this rigid ribbed backing the recommended choice for all types of jobs that require good stain removal, including Rough sanding and grinding, edge chamfering, deburring, weld seam finishing, pass patterning of fiber discs, storage, and security. The wide range of available grit sizes for fiber abrasives enables users to find the ideal tool for each of their applications. The scope of application includes the additional application of stainless steel, steel, metal, aluminum alloy, and active agent coating, which further expands the application scope of the abrasive fiber disc and greatly increases its service life.
During metal processing, this technology will provide enhanced die adhesion. This will greatly increase the service life of the abrasive fiber disc. When using fiber discs on an angle grinder, the disc needs to be attached to a back pad. The backing pads in the Golden Abrasives range of fiber discs differ in hardness and surface structure and, therefore, in their areas of application. The nature of the application has a critical influence on the selection of the correct backing pad.
Our standard fiber discs are available with round or star-shaped holes. Due to the state-of-the-art laser cutting technology, other pass patterns are also available on request.
Our fiber abrasive discs have been tested according to the guidelines of the OSA directive and are guaranteed to comply with the European safety standard EN12413. Proper storage of fiber discs is absolutely critical for safe use and long-term optimal sanding results.
To keep moisture- and temperature-sensitive fiber discs from bulging, it is recommended to store them at a temperature of 18 to 22 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 45% to 65%. Exposure to direct sunlight must be avoided to prevent the fiber discs from drying out and becoming brittle.
