Type Of Sandpaper
1. Dry Abrasive sandpaper
Dry sandpaper, as the name implies, is a kind of sandpaper that can be directly used for grinding.
Product features of dry abrasive sandpaper: dry sandpaper uses synthetic resin as a binder to bond silicon carbide to latex and is coated with an anti-static coating to make a high-grade product, which has anti-clogging, anti-static, and good softness, High wear resistance, and other advantages. Available in various finenesses, suitable for sanding metal surfaces, putties, and coatings.
Dry sanding paper is generally made of special Kraft paper and latex paper, using natural and synthetic resins as binders, and is manufactured through advanced high-static sand-planting technology. This product has high grinding power and is not easy to stick to chips. It is suitable for dry grinding. Widely used in furniture, decoration, and other industries, especially coarse grinding.
Advantages: cheap and durable, can be used directly, high power, remarkable polishing effect.
Disadvantages: When grinding, the dust is relatively large, the loss is profound, and it cannot be reused.
In addition to the common paper-based carrier, there are two special forms:
(1) Emery cloth
After changing the carrier from the original thin and brittle paper to cloth, the service life is significantly increased a lot. Because the carrier is thicker, it is also more durable.
(2) Flocking sandpaper
On the basis of the original carrier, a layer of fine fluff is added, which is often used together with the machine
2. Waterproof sandpaper
Waterproof sandpaper also plays a great role in the production of models, such as eliminating the nozzle of parts, grinding the gaps of parts cut from the runner, etc. Sometimes, fine sandpaper can be used to remove the luster of spray paint and the oxide layer of metal parts, so that Metal parts give off their original metallic luster. Sanding with oil on water sandpaper can make the wooden model show a soft luster.
characteristic:
1). Water sandpaper is mainly used for grinding and polishing cars, furniture, leather, home appliance shells, and mechanical parts. It has the characteristics of grinding with water, a high surface finish of the work-piece, and no dust pollution during operation.
2). Coated sandpaper is suitable for grinding soft materials such as wood, paint, soft metal, etc. It has the advantage of not peeling off and is not easy to block when used.
3). Waterproof sandpaper is used for grinding all kinds of wood, non-metallic putty, and glass. It can also be applied to the beauty of fingernails and toenails.
Advantages: Soaking in water does not remove sand, local fine grinding and finished furniture repair, generally use water sand, add water to grind when using, because there is water to reduce dust during the grinding process, there is no dust, and the impact on the surrounding environment is relatively small.
Disadvantages: The grinding power is a little lower than that of dry sandpaper. Use it directly without adding water, it is especially easy to stick to sandpaper, and the price is a little more expensive than dry sanding.
3.Sponge sandpaper
Sponge sandpaper, also known as sponge sanding block, polishing abrasive block, resin abrasive block, abrasive block, plastic abrasive block, etc., is a kind of grinding and polishing material with the sponge as the base and abrasive sand on the sponge.
Applicability and features:
It is most suitable for surface grinding and can absorb water, keep grinding with water for a long time, and can replace water sandpaper. Sponge grinding blocks can be made into various shapes and specifications.
Product Usage:
Sponge grinding block is suitable for manual polishing of furniture, surface polishing of plastic products, polishing of car repair and touch-up paint, metal rust spots, and surface treatment of plastics. It has remarkable characteristics such as water resistance, acid, and alkali resistance. Features: soft dry grinding, and wet grinding can be, washable, and reusable.
Advantages: The sandpaper is made of a sponge as the carrier, so it is thicker to hold. Compared with the other two kinds of sandpaper, it is more friendly to fingers. It can be used wet or dry. When polishing with high mesh, especially when we are making pendants and the like It's a good choice when it comes to small items.
Disadvantages: It is also because the sponge is used as the carrier, so the surface is relatively soft. When polishing the rough surface, the sandpaper will be scratched. Therefore, in the daily use process, it is usually after P400 grit just use it.
